Sustainability

At Superpedestrian, sustainability is core to how we engineer our vehicles and operate our scooters.

Our Sustainability Values

Invest upfront

We invested 7 years into engineering and design to develop a vehicle that can outlast any other on the market — significantly reducing our manufacturing impact.

Be transparent

We commit to sharing our sustainability metrics, goals, and progress with our partners and the public.

Be forward-thinking

We believe that micromobility can help cities decarbonize transport now and into the future. We make decisions that set us and our partners up for long-term success.

Today’s Metrics

Rooted in our values, here are some at-a-glance numbers in our current sustainability profile.

61 Mile Range

An unprecedented battery range allows for less frequent charging, meaning our operations teams spend less time on the road.

Autonomous maintenance

Our Vehicle Intelligence System (VIS) performs 140 tests before each ride, ensuring vehicle safety and prolonging component lifetimes

2,500 Ride Lifetime

Our average vehicle lifespan is more than 2x the industry average, with Superpedestrian scooters lasting 5+ years.

0% scrapped

At the end of their sharing lifetimes, scooter components are saved as spare parts to repair other vehicles, or responsibly recycled.

Tomorrow’s Goals

We’re working toward some big sustainability goals:

100% Electric Operations

We are working toward a fleet of hybrid/electric vans and cargo bikes for charging and rebalancing across our cities.

100% Renewable Warehouses

We are working to source 100% renewable energy in our operations centers where possible.

Transparent LCA

Our team is hard at work measuring our scooter’s lifetime environmental impact piece-by-piece. We will make this information available to the public upon completion.

Social + Business Sustainability

For Superpedestrian, Sustainability isn’t only about “going green”; Social and Business Sustainability are of key importance.

Superpedestrian works hand-in-hand with communities. We are committed to hiring locally everywhere we operate, providing opportunities for training and advancement, and assembling diverse teams that reflect the neighborhoods we serve.

Superpedestrian is committed to building relationships with cities and other local partners for the long-term. Our business must remain financially viable so we can continue to offer transformative mobility. Our unique technologies drive sustainable unit economics and company success.

We operate transparently and ethically, in full compliance with all local financial standards and regulations.

Partners

The problem of climate change won’t be solved by one person or one company. We are proud to partner with organizations moving toward a more sustainable future for all.

LINK partners with Landbell Group, a leading environmental compliance, waste management and chemicals compliance specialist. Landbell Group manages our extended producer responsibility obligations as well as our recycling and reuse efforts across EMEA.

LINK is partnering with TreeFolks in Austin to plant native Texas trees as part of their Central Texas Floodplain Reforestation Program. This program restores healthy forest buffers along riparian or streamside areas in order to improve water quality, provide wildlife habitat, and contribute to the overall well-being of Austinites.

LINK works with IT Asset Partners (ITAP) to responsibly decommission, re-imagine, and recycle our scooters across North America. ITAP is a global leader in asset recovery, using a hybrid recycling approach whereby generic parts and components are saved for repurposing and integrated into new products. Decommissioned LINK batteries are expected to have a second life in portable power stations and battery packs.
